Approved Water Rate Increases
Last month, the Board of Directors approved the District’s new 5-year water rate schedule that will go into effect on October 1, 2025. You will see these changes reflected on your November 2025 bill for water service from October 2025. Please note that the District’s monthly wastewater charge has not changed.
The District has not raised its water rates since 2009 and since then, the cost of operating and maintaining the District’s water system has steadily increased. This resulted in continuous deferrment of capital investment in the District’s assests due to lack of funding. The new rates will generate additional revenue to offset the rising annual costs of operations and maintenance, fund the project costs and debt service for capital infrastructure investment, and help maintain the District’s emergency reserves.
If you have any questions regarding the proposed new rates or their impact to your bill, please contact the District General Manager at (415) 868-1333, ext. 100, or by email at knelson@stinsonwater.org.
How is my new bill calculated?
Example 1: (residential average-use customer) – ¾” meter, using 3,500 gallons per month.
Monthly Wastewater Charge: $39.65 (unchanged)
Monthly Water Service Charge: $43.96 (¾” meter – see table above)
Water Usage Charge: (3,000 gal x $0.00678) + (500 gal x $0.01526) = $20.34 + $7.63 = $27.97
Total Bill = $39.65 + $43.96 + $27.97 = $111.58
Example 2: (residential high-use customer) – 1” meter, using 10,250 gallons per month.
Monthly Wastewater Charge: $39.65 (unchanged)
Monthly Water Service Charge: $78.04 (1” meter – see table above)
Water Usage Charge:
(3,000 gal x $0.00678) + (3,000 gal x $0.01526) + (3,000 gal x $0.02125) + (1,250 gal x $0.02597)
= $20.34 + $45.78 + $63.75 + $32.46 = $162.33
Total Bill = $39.65 + $78.04 + $162.33 = $280.02
