Annual Water Rate Increase
Back in October 2025, the District’s Board of Directors approved our new 5-year water rate schedule that went into effect on October 1, 2025. The first annual rate increase specified on this approved schedule took place at the start of the District’s new fiscal year on July 1, 2026. You will see these changes reflected on your August 2026 bill for water service from July 2026. Please note that the District’s monthly wastewater charge has not changed.
The District had not raised its water rates since 2009 and since then, the cost of operating and maintaining the District’s water system has steadily increased. This resulted in continuous deferrment of capital investment in the District’s assests due to lack of funding. These new rates will generate additional revenue to offset the rising annual costs of operations and maintenance, fund the project costs and debt service for capital infrastructure investment, and help maintain the District’s emergency reserves.
How Do These New Charges Get Applied?
Example 1: (residential average-use customer) – ¾” meter, using 3,500 gallons per month.
Monthly Wastewater Charge: $39.65 (unchanged)
Monthly Water Service Charge: $63.35 (¾” meter – see table on previous page)
Water Usage Charge: (3,000 gal x $0.00983) + (500 gal x $0.02212) = $29.49 + $11.06 = $40.55
Total Bill = $39.65 + $63.35 + $40.55 = $143.55
Example 2: (residential high-use customer) – 1” meter, using 10,250 gallons per month.
Monthly Wastewater Charge: $39.65 (unchanged)
Monthly Water Service Charge: $113.16 (1” meter – see table on previous page)
Water Usage Charge:
(3,000 gal x $0.00983) + (3,000 gal x $0.02212) + (3,000 gal x $0.03082) + (1,250 gal x $0.03765)
= $29.49 + $66.36 + $92.46 + $47.06 = $235.37
Total Bill = $39.65 + $113.16 + $235.37 = $388.18
