The Stinson Beach County Water District (“we,” “our,” “us,” or "SBCWD") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this privacy policy ("Policy"). This Policy governs your use of SBCWD’s general websites, accessible at www.stinsonwater.org (the "Site").  This Policy discloses our collection of information through any use of the Site. By accessing or otherwise using the Site, you acknowledge and consent to our collection and use of information as set forth in this Policy.

This Policy may be amended from time to time.  The amended Policy will appear on this page and dates of amendments will appear at the bottom.  Please review this Policy periodically for any changes.

Collection And Use Of Personal Information For The Site

We collect personal information from you when you choose to use certain features of the Site.  You provide this personal information, if at all, on a voluntary basis.  We use this information to implement the features and provide the services or information requested.

For example, the “Contact Us” page located at www.stinsonwater.org provides, as one of its options, an online form through which to contact us. That form has blanks and dropdown menus through which you are asked to provide the following personal information:

• Service used
• Category of comments/concerns
• Your first and last name
• Your email address
• Any information that you input into the "Your Message" field

We use this information for the purposes of soliciting feedback and responding to that feedback, as well as for the general purpose of improving the services that we provide. Correspondence, including any personal information such as names and e-mail addresses, submitted to this agency will become disclosable public records.

Users may opt out of SBCWD’s notices at any time. (See Opt Out, below.)

From time to time, we may implement other features of the Site that may request personal information (“Features”).  When Features are offered, we may collect personal information such as the following:

• Your first and last name
• Your email address
• Your phone number
• Your billing and service addresses
• A PIN or password assigned to or designated by you

We use this information to implement the Features and provide the requested services.

From time to time, you may be asked to participate in an online survey and share personal information, either directly on the Site or through an online survey platform. You will be notified prior to taking the survey how your information will be used.  Any information that you provide will not be shared with third parties, unless stated otherwise in the survey.

SBCWD may use third-party tracking cookies to deliver SBCWD-related advertisements. This use of cookies enables the delivery of targeted advertisements about our products and services when you visit non-affiliated web sites after visiting the Site. We do not collect any identifiable information through the use of these third-party tracking systems.

SBCWD does not share the personal information you provide with third parties, except when necessary to provide a Feature or Features, or when required by law or where disclosure is necessary to protect our legal rights, enforce our terms of use or other agreements, or to protect ourselves or others.  For example, comments, feedback, inquiries, or any information that you provide may be considered a public record once you provide it.  If we receive a Public Records Act request or subpoena, this information may be subject to public inspection and copying if not otherwise protected by federal or state law.  Similarly, we may share information to reduce the risk of fraud or if someone uses or attempts to use our site for illegal reasons or to commit fraud.

Features Provided Through Third Party Vendors (Including Online Billing and Bill Payment)

From time to time, SBCWD may work with third party vendors or consultants that provide services to consumers or the general public that may relate to or work with the services provided by SBCWD.  These third parties may collect your personal information when you choose to use their services, such as your first and last name, email address, phone number, billing and service addresses, bank account information, credit card number, and meter usage data. These third parties' collection and use of your personal information is governed by their respective privacy policies.

While SBCWD does not collect this information, it may access the information to allow the services provided to you by the third parties to be accepted by or work with SBCWD’s services and Features.

Cookies

We use cookies, which is a small text file placed on the hard drive of your computer to identify your computer and web browser, and to analyze and improve the Site. For example, we use cookies to record information regarding your use of the Site, such as what pages you access or visit.

The Site uses Google Analytics, a third party that collects and processes data.  SBCWD uses Google Analytics to analyze how users use our website.  This includes the number of visitors to our website, the duration of their visit, and the pages they visit. This information is used by SBCWD to understand how visitors utilize the Site and to improve our services.

We Respect Do Not Track

Some web browsers have “Do Not Track” or similar features that allow you to tell each website you visit that you do not want your activities on that website tracked.  We respect Do Not Track if you have selected this option in your browser.

Opt Out For The Site

Users may also opt out of receiving email from us through our mailing lists. To opt out of our mailing lists you can unsubscribe or send us an email to remove your address from the subscribed mailing list.

Children

The Site is a general-audience website, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13.  If you are under the age of 13, you should not and may not provide any information to us through or on the Site.  If you are an adult and find that we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us, and we will work to rectify the situation.

International

This Policy is intended to cover the collection of information through the Site from residents of the United States.  If you are not a resident of the United States or are visiting our website from outside the United States, and submit any of your personal information through the Site, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States. The data protection and similar laws of the United States may be different than those in other parts of the world.
